May Bash 2009

May Bash is a “backyard” charity event in it’s 5th year, and third year benefiting Kickin’ For Kids, a foundation that supports pediatric cancer research. In two years, we have been able to raise over $10,000 for KFK. What started out as a birthday party for friends with around 100 people has turned into an event complete with multiple bands, Dj’s, home cooked barbecue, live graffiti art, and more than 600 friends. May Bash is put on by a committee of friends who donate their own time and money to make sure the event is a success. The party is free to everyone who attends, but donations are taken and every dollar collected goes to Kickin’ For Kids. In addition to personal donations, generous donations from businesses make the party a success each year. The business donations such as beverage, food, and misc. supplies are critical to the success of the party and the ability to raise as much money as we can for Kickin’ For Kids. Come out on May 9th to be a part of the fun, great music, great food, and good times, while at the same time, helping to raise much needed funds for pediatric cancer research.

Find out more about Kickin' For Kids and how you can help raise money and awareness to combat pediatric cancer at kickingforkids.com

Kickin’ for Kids was established in 1995 in memory of Nicole Calhoun – Brennan’s little sister who died after a long battle with leukemia. As with many families who deal with the loss of a loved one, we wanted to turn our sorrow into something positive so we decided to establish a non-profit organization to help fund pediatric cancer and leukemia research, publicize the need for marrow donors to register for the National Marrow Donor Program and also to support outreach programs that serve seriously ill children.

Over the years since 1995 we have held martial arts tournaments, contracted to work at NFL games, held special events, and have been named the charity of choice by such great organizations as May Bash. We are an all volunteer organization so a very high percentage of the funds we raise goes toward our programs. In our 14 years, we have raised over $150,000 with funds supporting such great causes as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, All Children’s Hospital, the National Marrow Donor Program, Florida Blood Services, and Camp Good Days and Special Times. We continue to do what we can each year to make a difference, inspired by our motto, “One person cannot do everything….but everyone can do something.”

We thank you and your wonderful friends, Scott, for being one of our most generous supporters and wish you much success with this year’s event.
